del Sols & Miatas, play nicely ! ! !

Hi all,

After reading Arron's post below, I got an idea. I haven't shared this because.......well.....it just hasn't come up. Although I am an avid del Sol guy, I also happen to be a Miata guy. In fact, I am the President of the Puget Sound Miata Club. I couldn't help getting an idea after reading Arron's post. I would like to organize a real driving event (run) that involves both del Sols and Miatas. I would like to invite this club (Team Sol NW) to do a joint run with my other club (Puget Sound Miata Club). I was thinking about inviting Oregon Miatas and del Sols and perhaps some Canadian Sols and Miatas. Would any of you be interested in participating in an event like this? If I have a reasonable amount of interest, I will put this whole thing together and make it happen. Just lemmie know!

You do realize that this could end up with a lot of cars cause isnt the miata club pretty big?

I'm not too worried about it. I once lead a run of 112 Miatas and even that went of just fine. Typically in the Miata Club we get wround 5-12 cars per event. It seems that del Sol events don't typically get to many cars showing up (the last del Sol event I lead I gave two months notice and got one del Sol who showed up). So, I'm not too worried about size. The more the merrier! I hope to get several del Sols though!! Come on guys, lets do this!!!!

I actually was looking at Miatias when I got my second Sol. But my husband was to tall to be comforitable in it.

The next time I get contact with the Miata group that I cruised with, I will mention it. I'll have to do some digging, cuz I don't have any direct numbers.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I have to agree, the meets have been small at most times even though I send out an email to all on the mailing list (the reason seems to be a lot of the people work on either Sunday or Saturday when we have them).
I myself wouldn't have a problem with meeting up, having a joint meet between the two groups. In fact I welcome doing so, as we're all car enthusiasts. (We once had a Honda/Acura all models meet and that was fun checking out everyones cars). I would hope more people come up with ideas for meets and that this is just a start on it.

A Miata and del sol meet would be absolutely perfect! My next project is going to be a 94/95 NA and i've been meaning to show up to a miata meet for a while now. I missed the last miata car wash day i believe it was. Dusty being the president of the puget sound miata club and a del sol enthusiast at the same time...how small of a world is that? lol...I'll def try my best to make it to the meet whenever it is. Any ideas where and what we'll be doing yet??

This is great! I have been getting a lot of positive responce about doing a joint Miata / del Sol event. I have ran it by a few Miata folks as well and they all think it is a great idea. I willl start thinking of a date in the semi-near future for this event. Are there any of you who would like to attend this event but have restrictions on certain dates?
